Breeze Airways in Albany Temporarily Suspending Fort Meyers Route (wgna.com) — If you fly from Albany International, note that Breeze Airways is pausing its direct Albany–Fort Myers route for one month this fall due to capacity and demand issues. Airport officials say the seasonal suspension is temporary and expect the flights to return before winter, alongside other Breeze destinations from ALB. 
2. Albany County bans Kratom (wnyt.com) — Albany County is imposing a new public health ban on kratom starting next Monday, with fines of up to $2,000 for anyone caught using or selling it. County Executive Dan McCoy cites safety concerns, including a local death and the drug's addictive potential, as reasons for the countywide crackdown.
3. Average gasoline prices in Albany up 8 cents from last week (saratogian.com) — Albany drivers are paying about $4.07 per gallon this week, with local stations ranging from $3.69 to $4.39 according to GasBuddy. Prices are slightly higher than last week but still below last month, while national gasoline and diesel costs continue to climb amid global refinery disruptions.
4. UAlbany Launches New Graduate Certificate in Semiconductor Engineering (albany.edu) — UAlbany is launching a new online graduate certificate in Very Large Scale Integration this fall, aimed at working engineers in the growing semiconductor industry. The program taps Albany NanoTech's ecosystem and regional chip employers, giving Capital Region professionals a flexible way to gain advanced chip design skills without leaving their jobs.
5. Unearthing a piece of Erie Canal history (spectrumlocalnews.com) — Archaeologists and Albany Waterway Inc. are uncovering a historic Erie Canal lock that once helped make Albany a major national city and Underground Railroad hub. The team hopes to turn the rediscovered site into a Canalside-style marina and attraction, potentially drawing visitors and economic activity back to Albany's waterfront.
