City Of Albany Cuts Ribbon On New Infrastructure At Colby Street Park

ALBANY, NY – Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan joined New York State Senator Neil Breslin, 11th Ward Common Councilmember Alfredo Balarin, City of Albany Department of Recreation Commissioner Jonathan Jones, and community members today to cut the ribbon at the revitalized Colby Street Park.

Infrastructure improvements at Colby Street Park include the replacement of the entire playground structure with more modern physical, cognitive, musical, and fitness-oriented play features. These improvements are designed for children of all ages.

The revitalization of Colby Street Park was made possible by a State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant from New York State Senator Neil Breslin and capital investments included in Mayor Sheehan’s 2020 City of Albany Budget.

Colby Street Park is the 18th city park to be revitalized since Mayor Sheehan took office in 2014. A key component of Mayor Sheehan’s vision of creating a City where every neighborhood works includes ensuring every neighborhood has access to safe, clean, and attractive parks. The revitalization of Colby Street Park is another example of that vision in action.

The City’s Department of Recreation also launched the input period for the second round of Colby Street Park improvements centered around the future of the field area. Residents can provide input on what other amenities they would like to see in Colby Street Park by emailing recreation@albanyny.gov.
