Earthquake Shakes Adirondacks 60 Miles From Albany

A small earthquake hit New York just 60 miles away from Albany Friday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake was recorded by the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York.

The 2.2 magnitude quake hit the southern Adirondacks at about 9:47 a.m.

  • 12.6 km (7.8 mi) ESE of Speculator, New York
  • 47.4 km (29.4 mi) NNE of Gloversville, New York
  • 49.2 km (30.5 mi) WNW of Glens Falls, New York
  • 49.4 km (30.7 mi) WNW of Queensbury, New York
  • 97.9 km (60.7 mi) NNW of Albany, New York
