National Nursing Home Week is this week and at the large 240-bed facility on Altamont Avenue, nearly 40-50 bouquets were donated partially by Mike Clark from Schenectady, who is the son-in-law of James Gray, a resident here at Schenectady Center. The Center also contributed to the purchase.

"The residents just love the flowers, especially after the long winter months," said Kristen Pidgeon, Recreation Director at Schenectady Center. "Mike, his mother-in-law, Patricia, and the two daughters are always here to see James, and his contribution of these bouquets to our facilitysays a lot about this great family."

Resident and Veteran John Lee Holds His Arrangement

The flowers are a big part of national Nursing Home Week at Schenectady Center as Ms. Pidgeon and her team did flower arrangements with the residents, quoting the theme as "Stopping to Smell the Roses". The facility also planted seeds with the residents, enjoyed the outdoors in a nature walk and, earlier this week, created a stunning "grateful tree" for the lobby whereby residents and family members would create their own saying on a leaf.
