1. Nutcracker performance to stage open auditions for Albany youth (dailygazette.com) — Young dancers in Albany can audition on September 30 to perform in an international "Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet" production coming to the Palace Theatre on December 3. Open to ages 6 to 17, the program offers professional costumes, rehearsals with company soloists, and a chance to join world-class performers onstage for one night only.
   

2. Albany man charged in stabbing that sent one to the hospital (cbs6albany.com) — Albany police arrested a 31-year-old city resident after a man was stabbed inside a Hawthorne Avenue home early Thursday, then treated by Albany Fire Department crews and taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect faces assault and weapon charges, was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court, and is being held at Albany County Jail.
   

3. Melodies Center gives children with cancer a chance to just be kids (cbs6albany.com) — Families in Albany and the wider Capital Region rely on the Melodies Center at Albany Medical Center not only for childhood cancer treatment, but also for a place where kids can play, connect, and feel normal. Charlie, a young leukemia patient, found joy and friendship there, inspiring him to help other children and highlighting how community support and fundraisers sustain this vital local resource.
   

4. Anderon Secures $1 Billion to Boost U.S. Quantum Wafer Manufacturing (smallbiztrends.com) — Albany's IBM-affiliated Anderon quantum wafer foundry is set for a huge expansion, with $1 billion from the U.S. Commerce Department and another $1 billion from IBM to scale manufacturing. The project positions Albany as a national hub for quantum technology, with potential long-term benefits for local jobs, research partnerships, and tech-focused small businesses across the Capital Region.
   

5. WNYT Welcomes Meteorologist Alexa Dringus (wnyt.com) — Albany viewers will soon see a new face on WNYT NewsChannel 13, as meteorologist Alexa Dringus joins the First Warning Weather Team to cover Capital Region storms and seasonal shifts. A University of Oklahoma–trained forecaster with severe weather experience, she's eager to return to the Northeast and help keep local residents informed and prepared year-round.
