FBI: Albany woman plotted terrorist attack on New York Capitol (dailygazette.com) — An Albany woman has been arrested and charged with providing material support to ISIS after FBI investigators say she plotted to bomb the New York State Capitol just a couple miles from her home. Officials describe extensive online radicalization, surveillance of the Capitol in Albany, and the purchase of bomb components before her arrest with an inert device and firearm. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. 
2. Hochul announces $38M in statewide county infrastructure grants (dailygazette.com) — New York has awarded $38 million in county infrastructure grants, including $267,857 for an Albany County project to add a pocket park along the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail in Bethlehem. The funding will bring benches, lighting, workout equipment, and signage to enhance the trail and support nearby businesses, alongside several other Capital Region water, sewer, and housing-related upgrades.
3. State assemblyman expects more security at state Capitol after thwarted terror plot (cbs6albany.com) — If you visit or work at the Capitol in Albany, expect security to keep tightening after an alleged terror threat, Assemblyman John McDonald says. He describes more ID checks, expanded camera coverage in public garages, and additional staff training, while emphasizing the need to keep the building open for public voices yet safe for everyone who works, lobbies, or tours there.
4. Ukrainian Festival returning to Albany (news10.com) — Albany residents can look forward to the Ukrainian Festival's return on Saturday, September 19, running noon to 10 p.m. at the Polish Community Center on Washington Avenue Extension. Expect traditional food, crafts, and evening music and dancing, with all proceeds supporting Ukraine and discounted admission for kids.
5. NYS Assembly Chair of Government Operations Committee discusses threat to State Capitol (cbs6albany.com) — Albany-area lawmakers and Governor Hochul are reassuring residents that there is no active threat at the New York State Capitol after an alleged ISIS-inspired plot, while stressing that political violence won't be tolerated. Assemblymember John McDonald, Albany Assemblymember Gabriella Romero, and Senator Pat Fahy all praised federal and state law enforcement and highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen Capitol security that affects workers, visitors, and tourists alike.
