1. Transfer station planned near Albany's soon-to-be closed landfill (timesunion.com) — Albany's Rapp Road landfill is nearing capacity, and the city plans to open a 26,000‑square‑foot transfer station next year beside the dump to keep trash collection running smoothly. Officials say residents' pickup routines and current garbage fee should stay the same for now, but new transportation and disposal contracts, plus long‑term capping costs, could reshape future budgets and regional dumping arrangements.

City of Albany planning to drastically reduce police overtime budget in 2027 (wamc.org) — Albany leaders are planning a sharp cut to police overtime in the 2027 budget, while also proposing significant property and sales tax increases to close a large deficit.
