• Hoag Library director to retire with Elizabeth Haibach appointed new leader (orleanshub.com) — Hoag Library in Albion is undergoing a major leadership change as longtime director Betty Sue Miller retires Aug. 7 and assistant director Elizabeth Archer Haibach steps into the top role on Aug. 8. Miller, a lifelong Albion resident and Albion High School graduate, will stay on part-time for special projects. Residents are invited to a public reception at the library on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to thank Miller and welcome Haibach. 
• ORLEANS COUNTY/Assemblyman Steve Hawley to host Town Hall Meetings in Barre, Clarendon, Murray, Holley and Kendall on Aug. 8th (videonewsservice.net) — Albion-area residents can meet Assemblyman Steve Hawley in person during a series of town hall meetings this Saturday, Aug. 8, including a 10–10:45 a.m. session at Barre Town Hall on West Barre Road in Albion. Additional meetings follow in Holley and Kendall, giving Orleans County residents several chances to ask questions and share concerns about state and local issues. All community members are welcome to attend any location.
• New deputy sheriff completes academy, begins field training (orleanshub.com) — An Albion graduate, Deputy Angel Cruz Cruz, has completed the Niagara County Law Enforcement Training Academy and is now entering field training with the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office. He’ll work alongside experienced deputies as he transitions into patrol duties. Sheriff Chris Bourke also thanked Niagara County partners for helping prepare the next generation of local deputies serving communities that include Albion.
