• Air conditioning failure at Erie County jail causes inmates to be moved (buffalonews.com) — An air handler failure at the Erie County Corrections Facility in Alden has left 96 cells unusable, forcing 65 inmates to be moved and pushing total unusable cells across county jails to 241. With the incarcerated population rising, Sheriff John Garcia warns housing space is running short, though several air handlers are slated for replacement in a $3 million renovation.
