• Allegany town officials pleased with transition to sheriff office coverage (oleantimesherald.com subscription) — Allegany residents are now fully covered by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police after the town’s contract with the village police expired and a new sheriff’s contract began in June. Town Supervisor Chris McPherson says response has gone smoothly, with flexible patrol days to cover special events and problem areas, and emphasizes that most calls were already handled by county and state agencies.
