1. Three Amsterdam residents charged in major narcotics trafficking bust (wnyt.com) — Amsterdam police say three city residents face felony charges after a narcotics investigation led to raids at homes on Devendorf and Elk streets, where officers report seizing crack cocaine, cash and a weapon. The suspects were arraigned in Amsterdam City Court, and investigators warn the probe is ongoing with the possibility of additional charges. 
2. Amsterdam enlarges sewer line to sink the stink (dailygazette.com) — Drivers on Henrietta Street in Amsterdam should expect a temporary closure between Guy Park Avenue and Stewart Street while the city and town replace an undersized sewer line that carries much of the town’s Route 30 wastewater. The two-week, in-house project boosts capacity under a new intermunicipal sewer agreement, aiming to reduce flooding during heavy storms and cut down on occasional sewage odors for nearby residents.
3. Amsterdam awards contract for pedestrian safety project (dailygazette.com) — Downtown Amsterdam is set for a major makeover after the city awarded a $3.22 million contract for a Complete Streets project that will overhaul sidewalks, crosswalks, lighting and traffic patterns on Main, Bridge and nearby streets. Residents can expect new bike lanes, streetscape upgrades and an eventual rerouting of Route 5 traffic, with work starting within a month and running through June 2027.
4. Amsterdam native Andre Jackson Jr. inks deal with the Toronto Raptors (cbs6albany.com) — Amsterdam basketball standout Andre Jackson Jr. has signed a one-year deal that could see him play for the Toronto Raptors or their G League affiliate, keeping his NBA career alive. The 24-year-old former UConn champion and Milwaukee Buck now heads into training camp fighting for a roster spot after his role diminished last season.
