Beam Falls From Subway, Smashes Car Windshield In Queens
Photos shared on social media by Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer show a rod piercing a car's windshield.

WOODSIDE, QUEENS - New York City officials complain of crumbling infrastructure, and a piece of subway infrastructure literally crumbled on Thursday — a piece from the 7 train platform above fell and impaled a car windshield. Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer tweeted photos of the car around 65th Street in Woodside, Queens.
"This afternoon, a wooden beam or other debris from the 7 train crashed down upon a driving car around Roosevelt and 65th Street in Woodside, piercing through the windshield. This is horrifying," Van Bramer said in a statement. "Thankfully the driver was not injured, but someone could have been killed! There must be an immediate investigation into how something this dangerous could happen. MTA must answer for our crumbling subway infrastructure before a tragedy occurs.”
Van Bramer initially tweeted that a piece of subway track had crashed down on a driving car, though the object in question seems to more closely resemble a wooden beam. The images are screenshots from a Facebook video, a spokesperson said.
