Queens Driver Arrested For DWI, Assault After Astoria Crash

A Jamaica woman was arrested for driving onto an Astoria sidewalk and hitting a woman, then fleeing, according to a police source.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Police have arrested a Queens woman for driving onto a sidewalk and hitting a woman in Astoria early Thursday morning.

Jamaica resident Donikqua Locus was arguing with a 25-year-old Queens woman by Steinway Street and 28th Avenue about 2:25 a.m. before she drove her car onto the sidewalk and hit the unnamed woman, then drove away, an NYPD source told Patch.

The woman went to Elmhurst Hospital with a broken nose and dislocated elbow, the police source said. Video posted to Citizen showed first responders at the crash scene.

Locus, 24, faces charges of vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, refusing to take a breathalyzer test, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed driving and leaving the scene of a crash, according to police.

Police officers stopped Locus by 28th Avenue and 42nd Street when they saw her damaged gray Mercedes Benz and heard its tires screeching, the police source said.

It was not immediately clear whether the two women know each other.
