W Train Service Suspended As COVID Surge Continues

Citing a lack of operators, New York City Transit announced Wednesday that W subway train service is suspended.

QUEENS —Citing a lack of operators, New York City Transit announced Wednesday that W subway train service is suspended.

Riders may use the N train in Queens and the R train in Manhattan as alternatives, NYCT said. It wasn't clear whether the suspension would continue past Wednesday.

Trains are running less frequently than usual, NYCT said on Twitter.

"Like everyone in New York, we've been affected by the COVID surge," NYCT said. "We’re taking proactive steps to provide the best, most consistent service we can. That means you may wait a little longer for your train."
