New Details Emerge On Devastating Tornado That Ripped Into LI Beach Club: NWS (patch.com) — An EF-1 tornado struck Atlantic Beach’s Sun and Surf Beach Club Thursday evening, tearing apart dozens of bungalows, cars, and sand fencing but causing no injuries. Local and state agencies, along with Atlantic Beach lifeguards, assisted the National Weather Service in surveying the damage, while Nassau County declared a state of emergency and nearby New York Beach Club opened its facilities to displaced Sun and Surf members.

Rare tornado touches down on Long Island during NYC storm (audacy.com) — A rare tornado touched down in Atlantic Beach Thursday evening, damaging about 50 cabanas at the Sun & Surf and Silver Point beach clubs and forcing both to close temporarily. Nassau County’s executive declared a state of emergency as officials assessed damage and the National Weather Service investigated whether more tornado activity occurred nearby.
