• LI Family Stranded In Fire Island Inlet Rescued By Police Hovercraft (patch.com) — Suffolk County police used a hovercraft to rescue a Copiague family, including a 2-year-old, after their boat ran aground overnight in the Fire Island Inlet off Babylon. Officers launched from Oak Beach, brought the family safely to the New York State Boat Basin, and the child was treated for minor injuries at Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip.
