A Shopping Event for the Midnight Bargain Hunter

For many, the idea of shopping past 9 p.m. is something done during the late holiday rush period when stores are open at crazy hours to satisfy the procrastinators and those seeking super bargains.

But one Babylon Village store has learned that a midnight sales event can be a lucrative and fun experience.

Oooh la la is holding its third annual Midnight Madness sale Friday evening, from 9 p.m. til 1 a.m. and the later shoppers buy the bigger savings they will get.

The event offers increasing savings on marked-down items as the midnight hour approaches:  

8 p.m. -9 p.m.   10% off
9 p.m.-10 p.m.   20% off
10 p.m.-11 p.m. 30% off
11 p.m.-12 a.m.  40% off
12 a.m.-1 a.m.    50% off

Shoppers' energy levels will be boosted with cupcakes and refreshments, says store manager Natalie Orellana.

"We have been doing this event for three years and every year since it has gotten more popular, our customers constantly ask about it," said Orellana, adding "some customers come out later and hang out here so they can get the biggest discount."

She expects the usual busy crowd this year.

"It has been a great event and this year I'm sure will be just as great," she said.
