Babylon Grade Schoolers Join The Circus

Sixth-graders from Babylon Grade School had the opportunity to become circus performers for a day, as they showcased their newfound skills in a special assembly on Feb. 1 in front of friends, family members, classmates and teachers.

The Feb. 1 assembly was the culmination of an exciting week of learning, as the students had been practicing exciting circus activities like juggling, stilt-walking and devil sticks during their physical education classes throughout the week. The National Circus Project, a critically acclaimed educational outreach program that has conducted over 50,000 school workshops since 1984, conducted the assembly.

Performing circus arts was an excellent way for the students to develop motor skills, hand-eye coordination and balance. Additionally, circus activities are inherently cooperative and non-competitive, which is great for team-building.
