Babylon Resident Wins Triathlon at Montauk Lighthouse
Babylon resident Tom Eickelberg finished first for the second straight year on the East End.
Babylon resident Tom Eickelberg took home first place in the 17th Annual Montauk Point Lighthouse Sprint Triathlon & Relay on July 15th finishing the race in one hour, three minutes and 43 seconds.
Eickelberg, 23, who works at in the village and is sponsored by PowerBar and Western Beef Racing, took home the first place finish for the second straight year, according to a report by The East Hampton Star. Co-worker and Patchouge resident Ryan Siebert, 21, took home the fourth place finish.
Eickelberg started the race about a half-minute behind the rest of the swim-pack at Gin Beach in Montauk, and swam through the competition, avoiding other swimmers.

“I have beaten him,” Siebert said to The Star. Siebert will compete again in the national age-group championships in Burlington, Vermont in mid-August.
Following his first place finish on the East End, Eickelberg tweeted a quote by German philsopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
