Babylon School Budget Passes
The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.
BABYLON, NY — Residents within the Babylon School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 1,805 votes to 703.
Residents voted on the district's proposed $55,602,506 spending plan for the school year, a 1.37 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $43,909,256 up 2.82 percent from the current year's.
In addition, voters elected three school board trustees. Linda Jurs, Carol Ann Dell’Erba and Dominick Montalto beat out Angela Campagna, Scott McCormick and Trisha Kusinitz.

Jurs received a total of 1,377 votes, Dell’Erba received 1,298 votes, Montalto received 1,248, Campagna received 1,018 votes, McCormick received 956 votes and Kusinitz received 791 votes.
This year, constituents voted by absentee ballot due to the coronavirus.
