The published teen poet was honored at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum and has earned Principal's List honors since seventh grade.

BABYLON, NY — Babylon Junior-Senior High School has named Dominic Davila as the school’s inaugural Poet Laureate, recognizing a student who demonstrates exceptional literary talent, scholarly dedication, and a commitment to the arts.
Dominic’s poetry has been featured in regional anthologies, including The Future Speaks: A Teen Poetry Anthology from Suffolk County, New York, and Harmonic Verse 2025: Poems for the Holidays. His work also earned special recognition in June at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Museum, where he was honored for his award-winning entry in The Suffolk Youth Poetry Competition.
Beyond poetry, Dominic has built an impressive academic record. He has earned Principal’s List honors every quarter since seventh grade and is a member of the National Junior Honor Society. He has also represented the Babylon Public Library for several years in the countywide “Battle of the Books” competition.
