Bayman Statue To Be Unveiled This Weekend
The long-awaited unveiling of the local statue will take place this weekend.
BABYLON, NY - The long-awaited Babylon Bayman statue will finally be unveiled this weekend.
The statue unveiling will take place on Sunday, July 1 starting at 2 p.m. by the Babylon village gazebo.
The event will take place rain or shine.

The statue will finally be ready for all to see after nearly 2 months of arriving in the area.
In 2016, local residents proposed a statue in honor of the Long Island baymen who harvested out of the Great South Bay way back in the day.

As a result, the Babylon Beautification Society spearheaded the project and hired sculptor Jose Fernandez to created a 7-foot statue of one of the baymen to stand at the east side of the Carll's River Basin.
The statue was constructed in California before arriving in Babylon in May.
