Business Beat: New Retailers Peddle Glasses, Knick-Knacks and Chocolates

Downtown shoppers now have another option when shopping for eyeglasses and sunglasses: has opened Argyle Opticians next door to the long-standing jewelry shop.

Just down Deer Park Avenue, the Food Mart, a convenience store, appears to be out of business. The door is closed and shelves are empty, although no sign was posted.

The corner store, formerly occupied by toy store , boasts a 'coming soon' sign for a Kilwins chocolate shop, a franchised chain of chocolate, fudge and ice cream treats. No sign of interior construction was yet evident.

A new gift boutique has opened where Rubber Sole recently closed. Thisle and That is open for business, and is open seven days a week through the holidays. Hours, are Monday through Friday noon until 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. thru 7 p.m.
