FBI Hopes Alabama Lead Can Help ID 2 Victims In LI Serial Killer Case
The agency believes that a lead in Alabama will reveal the identities of 2 victims in the decades-old case.

GILGO BEACH, NY — The FBI is pursuing a new lead in Alabama that they hope will help identify two victims in a Long Island serial killer case, Mobile police said in a Facebook post.
Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison told Patch in a statement that FBI "investigators are following a lead" in Mobile, Alabama to "potentially identify a victim."
The agency hopes it will help find the identities of Jane Doe No. 3, also known as "Peaches," and her toddler daughter. The toddler's remains were found near the body of a woman believed to have been a victim of the Gilgo Beach serial killer.

The torso of Peaches, who received the nickname because of a peach tattoo she had above her left breast, was not found in that area — instead, it was discovered 25 years ago in a green Rubbermaid container at Hempstead Lake State Park.
“The FBI is seeking relatives and friends of Elijah ‘Lige’ Howell/Howard (1927-1963). Mr. Howard lived in Prichard, AL with his wife Carrie and passed away in Mobile, AL in 1963 with Ms. Lillie Mae Wiggins Packer. His relatives may be able to assist in the case of a woman and child found in another state,” the Facebook post said.

The post continued: “Does this tattoo look familiar?” a reference to the peach tattoo pictured beneath the notice. “If anyone has information, please call 1-800-call-FBI or www.tips.fbi.gov.”
In 2011, some of Peach's extremities were found near Zach’s Bay in Jones Beach during the Gilgo Beach murder investigation.
DNA later linked her to the skeletal remains of a toddler found 7 miles east on Ocean Parkway near Cedar Beach.
Police believe the female toddler was about 2 when she died. On April 4, 2022, her remains were found near Valerie Mack, or Jane Doe No. 6.
In May, police released the recordings of 911 calls made by Shannan Gilbert, who went missing in 2010.
The search for Gilbert led to the discovery of 10 sets of human remains.
Suffolk County Police recently released more information on four of the victims, as well as surveillance footage of victim Megan Waterman.
The search for Gilbert first led to the bodies of four other sex workers, all of whom were strangled and stuffed in burlap bags. A total of 11 sets of human remains, including Gilbert's, were found along Ocean Parkway. Police have been searching for a serial killer ever since.
Mari Gilbert, Shannan's mother, was later murdered by another one of her daughters.
A Netflix movie, "Lost Girls," was made about the case; the movie was filmed on the North Fork in 2018.
