Getting a Bead on Valentine’s Day Jewelry Trends
Nothing bad will happen if you open Pandora's box this holiday.
While the Pandora charm bracelet line has been in display cases for eight years, the jewelry option has been catching fire in the last year or so as the bracelet and bead maker debuted lower-priced options and a custom fit approach that ensures a bracelet option for everyone, from the kindergartner to grandma.
“It’s been selling now every holiday, from Mother’s Day to Valentine’s Day to Christmas,” said Jose Tavella, at Argyle Jewelers on Deer Park Avenue. “It’s a no-brainer as a gift option because there is something for everyone and a size for everyone.”
The bracelet costs about $60 and beads, which illustrate everything from being a soccer mom to being someone’s cherished partner, now start about $25, noted Tavella.

“These are all handcrafted and now affordable for everyone,” he said.
Another favorite jewelry line this year is the Loren G. Adams, an enamel-based collection that start about $35. The colorful rings and bracelets are getting more popular. Argyle is the lone retailer on Long Island carrying the collection, said Tavella.

“Our store offers a Valentine gift for everyone’s budget and price range,” he said, adding that the day before Valentine’s is often the busiest one of the holiday. “We get a lot of last-minute shoppers,” he said with a smile.
But jewelry is just one part of what Argyle Jewelers offers. It expanded last year and opened Argyle Optical within the storefront, and is now offering a full fashion optical selection as well, from prescription lenses to sunglasses with a resident optician on site. The designer eyewear line includes Tiffany & Co., Prada, Ray Ban and DKNY.
“We offer high-end fashion optical and it’s also becoming a popular choice among shoppers,” Tavella said. Right now the store is offering $100 off prescription eyeglasses and $25 off prescription sunglasses.
