Babylon Leader Attends Albany Conference in Preparation for the New Year

This summer, Babylon Superintendent of Schools Carisa Manza attended a leadership conference in Albany for first-time superintendents. This conference, called the New Superintendents Institute, gave Ms. Manza the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming school year alongside veteran superintendents who explained the nuances and challenges of the demanding role.

Presentation topics included leadership skills, day-to-day routines, conflict management, self-evaluation and staff coaching. The conference also featured a roundtable discussion with longtime superintendents from across the state and a meeting with New York State Education Department Commissioner Betty Rosa. Superintendent Manza also had the opportunity to associate with several other first-time superintendents from across the state.

“Stepping into the role of superintendent of schools for the Babylon School District is a great privilege and a responsibility,” Superintendent Manza said. “I take it with the utmost seriousness. As a lifelong learner who is always looking to impart that same philosophy on my staff and students, this conference was a great opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from experts in the field of school leadership as I prepare for the upcoming school year.”
