Lady Panthers Win School's 1st LI Championship

The Babylon Lady Panthers (9-2 conference, 17-2 overall) girls volleyball team defeated the Nassau County champion Oyster Bay Lady Baymen, 3-0, on November 13th in the Long Island Class C championship game at Carle Place High School.

According to Lady Panthers coach Patrick Donaldson, the Long Island championship is Babylon’s first in school history.

Senior middle hitter Mary Tighe, along with Brianna Goodfellow, Nicole Marro, sophomore Sara Mayo and standout outside hitter Lizzy Tighe, set the tone early for Babylon, which coasted to a 25-16 win in the opening set. The Lady Panthers went on to take the next two frames, 25-20, 26-24, for a convincing victory in straight sets.

Babylon advances to the New York State Class C volleyball tournament, which takes place November 17th in Glens Falls, N.Y. The Lady Panthers play in the semifinal round at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday.
