Mosquito Spraying In Town Of Babylon Planned
Helicopters will be flying in the area to apply the pesticides this week.
TOWN OF BABYLON, NY - The Suffolk County Department of Public Works' Division of Vector Control will be treating several salt marshes across Long Island by helicopter this week to control mosquito larvae.
The treatment will take place on Thursday, June 25 until 7 p.m. and Friday, June 26 from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The helicopters will be flying at a low altitude, dropping liquid pesticides: Vectobac 12AS (Bti) and Altosid liquid (methoprene).

No precautions are recommended to prepare for this spraying.
Human exposure from this operation is unlikely and the products involved have no significant human toxicity, according to a press release from Suffolk County.

In case of inclement weather, the treatment will be rescheduled.
In the Town of Babylon, the application will take place at the following locations:
- Oak Beach
- West Gilgo
- Gilgo
- Cedar Beach
- Cedar Beach Golf Course
- Oak Island
