Q&A with Maureen Fagan of All The Perks Espresso Cafe

Patch recently checked out our area's newest coffee shop in West Babylon and chatted with its owner.

All The Perks Espresso Cafe is our area's newest coffee shop. While we might have a ton of Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts across Long Island, All The Perks is a relatively new chain, promoting it's fresh food, great tasting coffees, organic ingredients and home-like feel. Babylon Village Patch recently had the chance to sit down with the cafe's owner, Maureen Fagan, to talk to her about the new hotspot in West Babylon.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

"I was at my job for about 20 years and it was just time to get away from the desk. We started looking around at franchises online and coffee was one that struck my fancy. We looked into that and found All The Perks, which gives us a bit of freedom. They started us off with a menu and I was allowed to add to it from there.

I live in Bay Shore and there's a place there called Milk and Sugar and I loved the place. When we were looking around, all I could think of was that place. It's obviously much bigger, but it started out as a smaller cafe. It was cozy and it had a lot to do with influencing my decisions."

With all the coffee shops on Long Island, such as Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts and even our own Babylon Bean, what drew you in?

What makes All The Perks unique from other coffee shops?

"It's a lot warmer. It's fresh food – we make almost everything. We make our own breakfast sandwiches and paninis. It's not pre-packaged and it's all fresh stuff... It's all organic and we have the freedom to change as we go along."

What is the most unique or popular menu item so far?

"One of my employees, Barbara, created her own 'health sandwich' and it's been a big hit. It's all vegetables and a multi-grain panini – spinach, tomatoes, artichokes, onion, cucumbers. A lot of people like our tuscan chicken, too – that's a standard on our menu. Another employee, John, made his own speciality drink called a 'Frozen Strawberry Lemonade.'"

Why did you choose West Babylon?

"The location along here along Route 109 is great and especially right here near the Shop Rite. It's a big draw with big exposure. We looked elsewhere, but this was the perfect location and really easy to find. West Babylon was just begging for a coffee shop."
