Police ID Woman Fatally Struck By Suffolk Transit Bus

A 64-year-old woman died from her injuries after being struck by a bus Thursday night, police say.

LINDENHURST, NY – A woman was struck and killed by a Suffolk County Transit bus on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst Thursday night.

According to police, Maureen McCloskey, 64, of Lindenhurst, was crossing Montauk Highway from south to north near Wellwood Avenue when she was struck by a westbound bus in the right lane around 8:08 p.m.

McCloskey was transported by the Lindenhurst Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m.

The driver of the bus, 60-year-old Michael Devine, of North Babylon, remained at the scene.
First Squad detectives are investigating. No criminal charges have been filed.

The accident occurred a mile away from where 54-year-old Pauline Aluska was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in August.
