• Communities honor the fallen (trihamletnews.com) — Bayport and Blue Point students and firefighters joined together for moving 9/11 remembrance ceremonies, including displays at James Wilson Young Middle School and Bayport-Blue Point High School. Alongside neighboring South Shore communities, residents honored local victims and first responders with new memorials, candlelight walks, music, and age-appropriate lessons about the attacks' legacy.
   

• Democrats push Trump to release NYS counterterror funds (newsday.com) — Bayport's own Rep. Andrew Garbarino chaired a 9/11-focused House hearing where Democrats pressed the Trump administration to release $87 million in counterterrorism funds owed to New York. Lawmakers warned that withholding the money could weaken security for New York City and communities statewide, while Garbarino stressed evolving terrorist threats and the need for sustained homeland security support.
