6-Week-Old Baby Left in Shoebox on Long Island Porch

The baby was wrapped in a blanket with a bottle of milk on top of her, police say.

A 6-week-old baby was found in a shoebox on the porch of a Long Island home on Thursday.

According to Suffolk Police, Franklin Ulloa, a 14-year-old resident of 405 Washington Ave. in Brentwood, heard a baby crying on the rear porch his home at about 8:55 p.m. Thursday.

Franklin went outside and found a 6-week-old baby girl, in a shoebox, wrapped in a blanket with a bottle of milk on top of her. Franklin told his family and they brought the baby inside and called 911.

The baby was brought to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where doctors said she was in good health. Child Protective Services was notified.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352.
