Bay Shore High School Senior Selected For American Legion At Boys’ State
Congratulations to Michael Voltz!

BAY SHORE, NY - Bay Shore High School senior Michael Voltz was selected to represent Islip’s American Legion at Boys’ State 2017.
Boys’ State, a weeklong program held over the summer, is among the most respected and selective programs of government instruction that immerses high school students in citizenship roles and leadership training.
In the summer 2017 session 1,110 students from across New York State participated and were exposed to information on the rights, privileges, duties and responsibilities of citizens.

Activities included legislative sessions, court proceedings and law enforcement presentations.
Voltz passed the Boys’ State Bar Exam, which allowed him to run for and win the position of Assemblyman for his legislative branch.

Upon returning from Boys’ State, he visited Islip American Legion Post 411 to share his experience and thank the post for sponsoring his attendance.
