According to the DA, Kattau began sexually abusing the victim when she was 8 years old in the summer of 2012.
The girl told a friend of the abuse and eventually officials of the school she was attending learned of Kattau’s behavior and notified police, according to the DA.

Kattau was then arrested on March 9, 2016.
In a statement, Spota said Kattau “is a sexual predator who has shown no remorse for his crimes against this young victim, a girl who exhibited tremendous courage in coming forward to see him tried, convicted and now sentenced to the maximum prison term the law allows.”
