Bay Shore Residents Become Stranded In Flood Waters

Firefighters rescued over 100 people in the area over the past 3 days including customers at 2 restaurants and 2 people stuck in a car.

BAY SHORE, NY - Bay Shore firefighters have rescued almost 100 people over the past 3 days trapped due to the flood waters in the area.

The storm hit Bay Shore over the weekend, causing severe flooding.

On Saturday night shortly after 11 p.m. the Bay Shore Fire Department responded to Maple Avenue and successfully removed the occupants from 2 local restaurants that became stranded due to the rapid high tide.

Due to a large number of occupants in the restaurants, membes from the West Islip, East Islip, Islip Terrace and the West Sayville Fire Department responded.

Evacuees were evaluated by Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance. No serious injuries were reported.

On Sunday shortly after 12 p.m., the firefighters was once again called to Maple Avenue for two people stranded in a car.

The two were rescued and no injuries reported.
