Firefighters Rescue People, Dogs From Suffolk Blaze: PD
Long Island firefighters extinguished a residential fire on Sunday that hospitalized three dogs and three people, Suffolk County police say.
WYANDANCH, NY — The Wyandanch Fire Company battled a residential fire in Wyandanch that sent three people and three dogs to the hospital Sunday night, Suffolk County police told Patch.
According to police, First Precinct officers arrived on the scene at 117 Washington Avenue after a 911 caller reported a residential fire around 10:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, photographer Anthony Frevola observed a "heavy fire load" on the second floor of the home, he told Patch.

Three residents of the home were transported to a local hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation while three dogs were rescued from the blaze and taken to a West Islip animal hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation, police said.
Mutual aid was provided by the Wyandanch Volunteer Fire Company Incorporated, Wyandanch Wheatley Heights Ambulance Corp, Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, North Babylon Volunteer Fire Company and the Town of Babylon.
