Man Who Stole From Parked Cars Charged With More Thefts: Police

The 37-year-old was arrested last week in connection to 5 thefts from cars in the area, police say. This week he was charged with 4 more.

BAY SHORE, NY — A Bay Shore man who was arrested last week for stealing from five cars was charged in connection to four more incidents on Sunday, according to Suffolk County Police. Last Tuesday, 37-year-old Henry Sanders, was arrested after he was seen on security camera footage submitted by residents, including from Ring doorbell cameras, taking items from at least five parked cars in the Bay Shore area between February 6 and February 11, police said.

According to police, Sanders was charged with five counts of petty larceny for stealing assorted items from parked cars on the following streets:

  • Sunset Road on February 6
  • Oakland Avenue on February 7
  • 1st Avenue, Bay Shore on February 9
  • Sunny Lane on February 11
  • Aberdeen Road on February 11

Then on Sunday after further investigation, Sanders was found to be responsible for four more thefts in the area, police said. He stole items from two cars on Thompson Drive on February 9, a car on Hampshire Road on February 10 and a car on Chapman Place on February 10, police said.

Officers charged Sanders with four additional counts of petty larceny. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and scheduled for arraignment at a later date.
