Town To Host Public Hearing On Proposed Apartment Complex
The meeting will be held this week to discuss the proposed 418 apartment complex planned for the Touro College site in Bay Shore.

BAY SHORE, NY — The Town of Islip will be hosting another public hearing this week regarding the potential apartment complex planning to open at the site of Touro College in Bay Shore. The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17 starting at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom.
The hearing will be streamed live in order to discuss the application of TREC Bay Shore, LLC requesting a change of zone from Business District to Downtown Development District in order to
construct an apartment house consisting of 418 apartments. The property is located on the southeast corner of Union Boulevard and 4th Avenue on 1700 Union Boulevard.
During the public hearing, all interested persons who wish to speak will be given an opportunity to be heard. Instructions on how to access the Zoom Webinar and/ or livestream are available on the Town’s website at islipny.gov. Anyone interested in providing comments to the town board on this item are encouraged to do so in writing and prior to the date of the meeting by emailing publichearings@islipny.gov.

Bay Shore Superintendent of Schools Joseph Bond have expressed his opposition over the project. over the past 10 months.
"The Bay Shore School District is adamantly opposed to this project for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which being its potential to have a substantial negative financial impact on our schools," Bond wrote in a message to the community. "Many in our community have expressed their strong opposition to this project and the impact it will have on not only our schools, but our community as well."
