APEC to Host Square Dance, Classes on Talons and Bees This Weekend

On March 24, the Douglaston center will host its from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Ticket prices for the event are $12 for APEC members, $15 for non-members and $8 for children, ages 7 to 12.

Square Dance Caller Jim Emory will lead the event, which will include instruction on how to do-si-do, promenade and swing your partner.
Partners are not required and beginners are welcome. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

On March 25, the center will host programs on honeybees and talons.
At 11 a.m., local youths will learn about the life cycles of honeybees and sample honey harvested from a local hive.
Pre-registration is required for the event. The class is $8 for non-members and is aimed at ages 12 and above.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, APEC will present “Talons! A Live Bird of Prey Presentation.”
The event, which is $10 per person and for all ages, will be an interactive program using live hawks, falcons and owls.
Attendees will witness a flight demonstration and learn about why the birds hunt various species, how they survive in their environments and current conservation measures.
