Family Talk: Jessica Alba Reveals Secret to Getting Pre-Pregnancy Body Back

What lengths would you go to, to reverse the effects of pregnancy on your body?

Slap on the corset.

No, really, the secret to Jessica Alba’s body, post-pregnancy, is wearing a double-corset . . . for months.

In an interview for Net-A-Porter, the mother of two revealed that she wore a corset after giving birth to both of her daughters, Honor, 4, and Haven, 1, as reported on Huffington Post.

Not sugar coating the act, Alba admitted “It was brutal, it’s not for everyone,” of wearing the waist constricting garment for such a long period of time.

To get her pre-pregnancy body back, Alba said that she donned the corset from the time of she gave birth, and kept it on for about three months.

Being a mother of two, myself, I know first-hand the struggles that women face after pregnancy.

Going from having a slim physique to gaining 25 to 45 pounds during pregnancy proves to be a lasting struggle for many women after they give birth.

For the multitude of women that do experience that kind of weight gain and have their bodies altered so, getting your body back can sometimes seem impossible.   Not to discourage any women going through pregnancies now, but it is something for which we are rarely prepared.

Having a baby is one of the most amazing experiences any woman can go through, but the toll on your body and how to rectify the inevitable changes that occur during pregnancy are usually not the focal point of conversations during pregnancy.

While wearing a corset for months may seem extreme to many, I can understand the desire and drive to do what you can to get your old self back.

It is all too easy for some to overlook the fact that we all have intimate relationships with our bodies and when our bodies are changed, drastically, it’s hard to accept the fact that the body you’ve had and known for so many years is just different.

And let’s face it, many women never reach a point where they can say they have regained their old bodies, myself included, although I haven’t given up hope yet.

The important matter is that the strives made to reverse the effects of pregnancy on one’s body are healthy in nature and do not cause harm at the price of what we want our bodies to look like again.
