Harley Riding Cop Dies After Crash With Speeding Driver: Reports
An NYPD officer has died after he was hit by a speeding driver on the Cross Island Parkway, according to cops and several news reports.
NEW YORK CITY — An NYPD cop has died after his Harley Davidson motorcycle was hit by a drag racing BMW, according to cops and several news reports.
The NYPD confirmed the man was thrown off his Harley about 5:30 p.m. April 25 on the Cross Island Parkway near 17th avenue. When they arrived, cops found him lying unconscious and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The New York Daily News reported that the victim was an NYPD police officer, and that the car that hit him was drag racing down the parkway. According to the newspaper's report, several vehicles were racing down the road.

A 39-year-old man who was driving the BMW stayed at the scene and had not been charged with any crime as of Monday, cops said.
