Arrest Made In Death Of Brooklyn Church Caretaker: Report
A suspect in the shooting that killed a beloved caretaker at his Brooklyn church has been taken into custody, police said.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A suspect in the death of a beloved church caretaker who was shot at the Brooklyn congregation earlier this week has been arrested, police said Thursday.
Moriyah Lewis, 39, was charged late Thursday with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm for the Monday shooting, police said.
Lewis, who is from the Bronx, is accused of fatally shooting Edward James, 62, in the torso at the Glorious Church of God on Halsey Street.

His death sent shockwaves through the congregation and the community, where James was known as the "Mayor of the Street" after turning his life around by joining and working at the church.
Police told the Daily News that they believe Lewis chased James into the church from the street before shooting him in the back.
