Bed-Stuy Church Service To Honor Those Lost To Coronavirus
The Marcus Garvey Boulevard church will host a community giveaway and memorial service next weekend.
BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy church will honor the lives lost to the coronavirus crisis with a memorial service and community giveaway event later this month.
The Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ has scheduled a full afternoon of community activities and services for Sunday, Sept. 13 at its building on Marcus Garvey Boulevard near Ellery Street, according to a flyer for the event.
The "Healing Anointing in Brooklyn" event will begin with a school supplies and food pantry giveaway, complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, brownies and other refreshments for the community. It will also include voter registration and the opportunity to fill out the 2020 U.S. Census, according to the flyer.

After the giveaway, the church will hold a memorial for the lives lost to the pandemic.
Some Brooklyn leaders are slated to join the event, including the borough's District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, Council Member Robert Cornegy Jr. and top cops from the Brooklyn North Bureau and the 81st Precinct.

The memorial will be presented by Bishop Ismael Claudio and Bishop Rev. Elizabeth Claudio.
