Bed-Stuy Teen Killed On NYCHA Rooftop, Police Say

Police are investigating the death Ihuoma Uchanma, who was found on the roof of a Brevoort Houses building Tuesday, as a homicide.

BEDFORD-STUYVESEANT, BROOKLYN -- A teen was shot dead on the roof of the Bed-Stuy NYCHA development he called home, officials said.

NYPD officers found Ihuoma Uchanma, 18, on the roof of 326 Bainbridge St. during a vertical patrol of the Brevoort Houses at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

The teen, who lived on the Ralph Avenue side of the complex, was pronounced dead by emergency responders who rushed to the scene, said police.

Uchanma died from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the Medical Examiner's office.

Police classified Uchanma's death as a homicide on Wednesday morning but had not yet made any arrests.
