As most people know by now my absolute favorite activity is reading to third graders at PS 262 in my beloved BedStuy. I have had the opportunity to do this for the last two years through a program instituted by the Brown Stoners of Bedford Stuyvesant who recognized that promoting literacy was a DOE responsibility but that the biggest responsibility rest squarely on the shoulders of the community. Those of us that have had the pleasure of participating see the difference being present in our schools makes. Please find a school and get involved it's really that simple!
