Brooklyn Democratic Leader Seddio Will Clear Way For Successor
Frank Seddio, longtime Brooklyn Democratic leader, throws support behind Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte as new party chair.
BROOKLYN, NY — Longtime Brooklyn Democratic leader Frank Seddio plans to step down in favor of fresh blood. He's endorsing state Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte to take over the post he has held for eight years.
The announcement Monday could represent a shift toward a younger generation of Democrat as the chair of Kings County Democratic Executive Committee. Seddio is 73 while his preferred successor, Bichotte, is 40.
“It is time to pass the torch to a new generation to lead us into even bigger and better successes in the future," Seddio said in a press release.

Democrats on the Kings County executive committee plan to meet Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, to choose Seddio's successor, according to the release.
Bichotte, if selected, would become the first woman to lead a Democratic county organization in the city, the release states. She's already the first Haitan-American and engineer who can boast an election to the state assembly. She represents Flatbush on the party's executive committee.
