BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — The Bed-Stuy congressman who memorably quoted The Notorious B.I.G. during the impeachment trial will lend his oratorical skills to another Brooklyn pol.

U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries is slated to provide the introduction to state Sen. Zellnor Myrie's first state of the district address on Feb. 23.

Jeffries represents District 8, a congressional district that encompasses Bed-Stuy and a wide swath of Brooklyn. He served as a House impeachment manager for President Donald Trump's trial and gained national attention for his speeches, including one which evoked Biggie Smalls.

Trump's attorney Jay Sekulow asked "why are we here" during his arguments, to which Jeffries said because Trump abused his power and tried to cover it up, according to Billboard.

"That is why we are here Mr. Sekulow," Jeffries said. "And if you don’t know, now you know."

Senators eventually voted to acquit Trump on largely party lines.

Myrie was elected in 2018 and represents Crown and Prospect Heights, Park Slope, among other neighborhoods. He'll hold his address at Brooklyn Public Library's Central Branch, where many other neighborhoods converge.
