Bushwick Man Charged With Bed-Stuy Dad's Murder, Cops Say
Darrien Weekes stands accused of fatally shooting Malik T. Russell, whom medics found fatally wound on top of a garbage heap in Bed-Stuy.
BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A Bushwick man stands accused of murdering the Bed-Stuy father who was shot and found on top of a pile of garbage, police said.
Police arrested Darrien Weekes, 21, on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon Monday afternoon at 4 p.m., according to the NYPD.
The arrest comes more than a week after Malik T. Russell, 29, was found shot dead near the corner of Chauncey and Thomas S. Boyland streets on Saturday, June 1, said police.

Emergency responders rushed Russell to Interfaith Hospital where he later died, police said.
Information about Weekes' arraignment was not immediately available.
