Correction Department Helps Inmates Prepare for 'Green' Future

Jobs program teaches IT skills, promotes re-entry to community

Thirty-six inmates received certificates for successfully completing the Working I.T. Out training course at a graduation ceremony recently at the Eric M. Taylor Center Visit House on Rikers Island. 

Working I.T. Out, which the Department of Correction (DOC) runs in partnership with STRIVE International, helps inmates acquire skills for employment in the green-technology sector.

At the graduation STRIVE officials promised to provide support to help participants get jobs and stay out of jail.
