72-Year-Old Screams Anti-Gay Slurs And Pulls Knife On Subway, Prosecutors Say
Arnold Moody yelled homophobic slurs and pulled a knife on an A Train passenger earlier this month, prosecutors said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A 72-year-old man who screamed homophobic slurs and pulled a knife on an A train passenger has been charged with a hate crime, prosecutors announced.
Arnold Moody, of Flatbush, allegedly began harassing his victim when he boarded a Manhattan-bound A train at the Broadway Junction station on Aug. 9 around 8:50 a.m., according to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said the man allegedly screamed, “You’re a [expletive deleted], why are you standing like that? I’m going to cut you.”

Moody continued hurling insults, pulled out a knife and followed his victim off the train and onto the Nostrand Avenue station platform, where police officers saw Moody’s knife and arrested him, said prosecutors.
Moody was charged with menacing as a hate crime, criminal possession of a weapon and aggravated harassment and held on a $15,000 bail in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Wednesday, prosecutors said.

Moody is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 18 and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.
